How to get to Sibu

By air

Located on the Borneo island, Sibu is accessible from Peninsular Malaysia via flights from Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru, serviced by Malaysia Airlines, Airasia and Firefly. There are also flights connecting other destinations within the state or to Sabah such as Miri, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu.

To get to Sibu town centre from the airport

Taxi coupons to downtown Sibu are available for purchase right outside the airport arrival hall. The fare is approximately MYR 35. Currently, there is no bus services from the airport.

By bus

Sibu is also accessible from other cities within the state by bus. Bus companies such as Biaramas, Suria Bus Express and Borneo Highway Express provide services between Sibu and Kuching, Bintulu,Miri, Mukah and Sarikei. Most of these express buses stop at the long-distance bus terminal located at Jalan Pahlawan, where you can catch a taxi or local buses (Lanang Bus) to the town with an affordable fee. Buses from Sarikei stops at the short-distance bus terminal downtown (near the express boat terminal).

By sea/river

There also have boat express from Kuching to Sibu. Boat Express which have only one trip perday at Kuching Boat Express Terminal. Sibu is also the main gateway to small towns in the upper Rajang river. Passengers can get on express boats to Song, Kapit or Sarikei and Tanjung Manis.
